I really wanted to write this post as there are a couple of things I believe are super important for you to know.
1: Don’t second-guess yourself.
I understand we sometimes ask for others opinion, looking for approval. I’m not the exception but I normally go with the option that made my heart sing from the beginning. Just an example: I wanted to buy a Dairy for 2017 and I decided to buy the one that I used to use when I was a teenager. Some people said “aren’t you too old for that diary?” and I replied, “I might be but I like it and I’m going to buy it anyway.” There were 4 designs to choose from and I did show them to some people to hear their opinion, but at the end of the day I went with the design that reflected my personality.
My point is, there are things that are just too personal to let other people decide for you. I’m not saying not to hear other’s opinion or advice, but you need to also follow your heart.
Branding in general is very personal and much more so if you are branding yourself. If you let other people decide for you, you will have a brand that doesn’t reflect who you are and in the long run, you will feel it is not you and you will end up disliking it, not feeling connected to it.

2. As my friend and mentor Angela Raspass says “You need to polarise to mesmerise, and if you try to appeal to everyone, you’ll end up resonating with no one at all”.
Don’t try to please everyone. Don’t be vanilla. Be yourself. Show your personality and your values. There will be people who just don’t like your work or they don’t believe in what you do and that is totally fine, just let them go.
You need to put all your efforts in people who think you are great and love and believe in what you do not in #haters. If people unsubscribe from your newsletter because of whatever reason, don’t think it is your fault. Products and services are not designed to be liked by everyone, they have a specific person to target and that is what you need focus on.
“I’m not a gold coin, so I can’t please everyone”
In conclusion, let other people give you advice and opinion but don’t let them decide for you, follow your heart, believe in yourself and don’t be vanilla. Take a deep breath and show the rest of the world what you are made of.
